Highlights
This year’s third annual Forum on High School Reform will feature the exemplary work of schools, teachers, and administrators in Smaller Learning Communities (SLC) and other high school reform models. Sessions will cover the range of the SLC issues from implementation to sustainability.
This year the preconference will highlight five HSR Featured Schools that are conducting exemplary work in implementing SLCs. These in-depth sessions will provide school teams an opportunity to visit and talk with staff from several schools in one setting.
Conference Strands
- Support for Teaching and Learning includes sessions on instructional coaching, literacy, classroom management, special education, best practices & more.
- Functional Accountability includes sessions on program evaluation, data research findings, classroom evaluation techniques & more.
- Collaboration includes sessions on transforming high schools into smaller learning communities (SLCs), school and community involvement & more.
- Identity includes sessions on creating a common plan, building school communities, educating stakeholders & more.
- Personalization includes sessions on creating school culture, motivating students, increasing student assets & more.
Networks
The Hyatt Regency has a “central square” that has open space with chairs and tables for participants to network. There will also be time set aside Friday afternoon to network with colleagues at Networks Lounge.
