This overview of the CSS program is required for all principals and for those outreach consultants who have not completed the Dropout Prevention Specialist Certificate program. This presentation will feature a video presentation, interactive training by expert field colleagues and principals, and a clear understanding of what makes CSS such an effective academic and student support program.

Resiliency has been described as the ability to bounce back from challenging situations and events. Use of humor and connection with a caring adult are key. Using techniques that build the resiliency of staff and provide interventions to use with students, build the staff’s capacity to participate in transforming the climate of the school.

CSS Toolkit: SST Training

Participants will explore best practices in the SST process, including gaining teacher buy-in, viewing video clips of elementary and secondary SST meetings, strategies to elicit parent and student participation, networking with SST facilitators around the state, nuts and bolts of implementation and recordkeeping, and strategy resources that address the strengths and needs of students and families.
