“What’s Love Got To Do With It?”
Anita Moultrie-Turner, Instructional Specialist and Adjunct Professor, California State University (CSULA), Los Angeles
This keynote will provide a fresh perspective on how to help teachers deal with the stress and time management issues inherent in their first years on the job. Anita Moultrie-Turner explains why loving ourselves is key to being successful in this profession, and how when we as support providers model and teach self care and the love of our students, regardless of their ‘likeability’, we create the room for our participating teachers to grow into effective lifelong professionals. Staying connected to our own lives and our passions, regardless of our busyness, will help new teachers understand that although the first few years are difficult, they are not impossible. The hard work and determination do eventually pay off, and we find that being an educator is an honorable, lifelong position that impacts the lives of others for years to come!
Anita Moultrie Turner speaks from her experience as a classroom teacher, master teacher, mentor teacher, literacy coach, principal and professional development administrator. She is currently an Instructional Specialist and Adjunct Professor at California State University at Los Angeles (CSULA). Find out why Ms. Moultrie Turner has won numerous awards including “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers”, “Top Ten Teachers of Southern California” and the “Golden Apple” award and was nominated for an Emmy for co-producing a video series entitled, “Teachers and Their Coaches.”
