What is the district’s capacity to support SLC implementation? In what ways are district policies fostering SLC implementation, and in what ways is the district a barrier? How might district policy support the development of strong, equitable SLC academic programs? Teams will have time to learn about best practices and will come away with a plan to undergo a district self-assessment for SLC implementation.

The workshop will also look at the journey one large high school district has taken to change their culture and structure to a PLC. The Bridge Program

If enrolling every graduate in a post-secondary program is your goal, this is the program for you. Learn how to collaborate with a local community college to make this goal a reality. This complete program takes the student from lessons and activities to the actual enrollment process with applications, financial aid, and placement testing at the high school site. Participants will receive a step-by-step plan for implementation.

Video clips and PowerPoint® will be used to present SLC structures, including freshman houses, academies, Link Crew, and business advisory communities. Learn how SLCs encourage a college-going culture through project-based instruction and internships. Here are the nuts and bolts of starting your SLC. Based on the experience of building SLC programs in both new and existing high schools, the presentation will provide information on designing SLCs to include PLCs with departmental leadership, advisories, protocols for student interventions, collaboration, common assessments, and building the leadership capacity of a school.
