Highlights
This conference is in its fifth year of providing secondary school staff with access to exciting innovations that promote student success. In the past, this conference has focused on the smaller learning communities reform for comprehensive, traditional high schools, inviting schools that received the federal grants to highlight their work in redesigning their schools.
In February 2009, the conference will expand its topic to include all secondary schools that are making dramatic changes in their structures and procedures to enable students to experience education in more personal and meaningful ways. The same goal informs the past and future of this conference-students' improved performance. The committee that guides the content of this conference believes practitioners should be the main event. We have invited schools, teachers, and administrators who are doing extraordinary work in their school to present and share the lessons and triumphs they have achieved.
Take advantage of the expertise being provided at this conference. The presenters are all like us-struggling to make meaningful and effective changes in the educational experiences of our students. Listen to the presentations and also talk with the presenters. It's seldom we get a chance to have professional conversations about our work. This is the place for such conversations.
