What’s New

SB65 M&M schools outperform their districts and IIUSP schools on Academic Yearly Progress (AYP) indicators.

A recent independent evaluation by Ceres Policy Research concludes that schools with M&M programs have higher rates of API improvement, higher improvement in graduation rates, and higher test participation rates than the other schools in their district. M&M schools outperform their district's graduation rate improvements by a 13% margin. Although M&M schools' proficiency rates for ELA and math are slightly lower than other schools in their districts, their participation rates are higher.

Bridge Funding for M&M Schools

CDPN and EA are currently seeking bridge funding for 37 model schools that will lose California State funding during this difficult budget year. We hope to provide $50,000 per year, per school to ensure that proven dropout prevention programming continues. Please consider donating to this project. For more information about this effort, please contact the Development Director, Kath Robinson, at kathrobinson@cruzio.com.

AB841

Education Alliance is proud to have worked with State Assemblyman Juan Vargas to pass legislation to update M&M program policy. Assembly Bill 841 was signed into law October of 2003.
